Mandy Zhang Art | Jin Han & Sophie May Birkin Two-person exhibition
From November 13th to 16th, 2025, Mandy Zhang Art will make its debut at the Shanghai West Bund Art and Design Expo, showcasing the latest creations of two artists - Chinese artist Jin Han and British artist Sophie Mei Birkin.
Two artists explore the core theme of "transformation" from different dimensions: Jin Han extends from the flow of cosmic energy and pursues the pulsation of energy in interstellar space; Sophie Meize starts from the slow evolution of underwater materials and focuses on the deformation of matter over time. Their works outline an invisible web of energy between nature and consciousness, between matter and spirit.
Jin Han: Resonance between Snow Crystals, Energy, and the Universe
Jin Han visualizes the energy from the universe and seeks a balance of language between woodcut and oil painting: the superposition of carved lines and pigments creates tension between the surface and deep layers - both visible and hidden. In the "Magnetic Field" and "Diamond Star" series, he explores the resonance between natural laws and scientific formulas through the hexagonal structure of snow crystals, presenting a meditative visual order.
In the latest "Celebration" series, Jin Han depicts the moment of star explosion - the quietest and most magnificent "celebration" in the universe. In his writing, death turns into light, and the end becomes rebirth. The brilliance of that moment was not only the flicker of a distant nebula, but also the echo of human emotions. For Jin Han, the posture of looking up at the stars itself is a kind of meditation - to feel distance and longing, unknown and awe in the silent universe.
